Alanna McCargo is a visionary leader and founder of iAM Housing Advisors, bringing over 25 years of experience across financial services, affordable housing, real estate, banking, capital markets, and sustainable finance. She has led organizations through disruptive market cycles, crisis response, new policy developments, regulatory chang
Alanna McCargo is a visionary leader and founder of iAM Housing Advisors, bringing over 25 years of experience across financial services, affordable housing, real estate, banking, capital markets, and sustainable finance. She has led organizations through disruptive market cycles, crisis response, new policy developments, regulatory change, technology modernization, and transformational growth, working alongside executive teams and boards across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors with organizations including Ginnie Mae, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Urban Institute, CoreLogic, JP Morgan Chase, and Fannie Mae.
Alanna has served as a trusted advisor to senior White House officials, Cabinet members, regulatory bodies, and Congressional committees on economic and community development topics.
She made history as the first woman nominated by the President of the United States and confirmed with bipartisan support by the U.S. Senate to serve as President of the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae) and represent U.S. interests globally with governments, investors, issuers, and partners. Under her leadership the US Government launched its first sustainability framework for investors, drove data and disclosure standards, and attracted capital to the U.S housing market with global and domestic investors through the agency's first social bond and award winning green bond programs. She also led efforts to increase access to Ginnie Mae for smaller community banks, credit unions, CDFIs, and State Housing Finance Agencies through national partnership programs, and led the team to digitalization and cloud enablement of its securitization platform.
A nationally recognized housing and social impact leader, researcher, and public speaker, Alanna has testified before Congress on financial services issues, and guest lectured and presented at academic institutions including NYU, UPenn, Harvard, and Columbia. She has published influential body of research on housing and economic policy, community development, homeownership, wealth-building, and financial inclusion and is known for her ability to forge cross-sector bi-partisan partnerships that drive innovative and inclusive outcomes.
